There are beautiful statues and flowers all over the campus

On campus there is a ancient temple they have built to replicate early Korean history. The grounds are beautiful, you can see many students just socializing eating lunch and chatting in the rooms inside. How incredible!
Too beautiful to be a campus? That thought runs through our heads everyday!
Daegu is known for natural medicines and in May they had their herb festival!
They even have real bunnies in the decorations!!! Anyone care for a natual remedy. Your guess is as good as mine about what this is or what it does... . Justin and Yonas even put their masculine artistry to work making bamboo bows and arrows at one of the local booths.
Big hugs from the giant herbal tea people. I will probably never get to say that again in my life.
This is the traditional wedding food. There are specific dishes that must be prepared and served in specific ways.
The closing ceremony was the burning of a wish tree. Everyone fills out a slip of paper with your wish on it, tie it to a tree then you light it on fire and dance around. You bet we got involved! It was a blast! Oh yea that's my man- always putting food on the table.
Justin and I took a trip with 5 other foreign exchange students to the beautiful coastal city of Busan. I will spare you all the lounging on the beach photos, but that is mostly what we did. Came home with a lovely souvenir sunburn too! (hmmmm... I don't remember Trevi fountain with color ch anging neon lights. Perhaps a little Korean touch)
This is Justin's very first hostel. I am so proud!!!! These pictures can show you how similar and different Korean hostels are to European ones. We sit on the floor!
This is a Garden built on the top floor of this mall, I couldn't help but laugh at the huge park they probably tore down to build it. But it's all good now cause they rebuilt it on floor 12!
Here are some big cultural differences in Korea!!!
1. Girls wear high heels, or high top converses. Those are the only shoes they own! I am the only one wearing flip flops (but that doesn't stop me)
2. IV's for trees. They actually hang little IV bags on trees and the little tube leads to the base of the tree. It can't be just water cause that is not nearly enough. so I am guessing it is some kind of fertilizer.
3. You cannot say hello first to an older person. It is their job to address you first or it is disrespectful.
4. Don’t smile when you walk past a stranger, but make sure you say hello and bow to a coworker or someone you have met once, if you don't they will be offended. This is terrible for someone forgetful like me. YIKES!
5.Your skirt can be so high when you walk we can see your panties (i have seen it) but if you show your shoulders it is slutty. Leggings are VERY popular here, especially if you wear them with jean shorts...
5.5 It is not at all uncommon to see couples wear identical outfits from their shirts to their shoes. We have seen many couples wearing the EXACT same thing, but it I never seem to have my camera on hand. Here is a couple in matching t-shirts, I sneakily took these photos, mwa ha ha.
6.. Koreans are very conservative in person but their movies and plays are VERY DRAMATIC. They exaggerate and over emphasize emotions, surprise and excitement. So all their TV shows and movies are ridiculously CHEESY! Why is that?
7. In Korea if the parking is all taken, just put on your emergency lights and stop right in the road. Justin and I were dumbfounded when we were in the car as someone did this.
8. Americans are obsessed with their mouths and movie stars must have straight perfect teeth right? Well Koreans are obsessed with their eyes and all movie stars (if their eyes are not already quite wide) must have their eyes done so they are big and wide, teeth are an after thought. Also just look at our smiley faces American- :) Little tiny eyes, emphasis on the smiling mouth. Koren- ^^ you send this in an email or text. This is representing how your eyes squint when you smile.
Last but most important...
9.Don’t get a Tan! It Looks ugly, in Korea they use bleaching creams and try to stay out of the sunlight to keep their skin pure and white. They have funny hat masks, or they carry sun umbrellas and they never, never forget sunscreen.
